Beat the Heat: Fruit Popsicles

I wish these fruit popsicles are real. Ice cream and popsicles are one of the best ways to beat the heat. I used to enjoy summer when I was a kid but after a decade, and thanks to climate change, I try now to avoid the sun as much as possible. There’s no fun in exposing yourself to scorching heat and buckets of sweat (Eew.)

This illustration was the second food illustration I made after my tarts and pie artwork. It was inspired by a Con Paulos photo I found in Pinterest. It was supposedly for our summer-themed watercolor challenge. I decided not to share it, not even in Instagram, just because I didn’t like my final output. The original flavours were Fruits, Cookies and Cream, Peach Raspberry and Chocolate. Of the four flavours, this was the only good popsicle that I painted.

If you would notice, all the popsicles look alike (the two were just turned upside down). I didn’t paint them but I edited them using Photoshop. I wanted for so long to learn how to digitise my artworks. Most of my basic skills can be attributed only to the one-hour Photoshop session I had when I was in college. I just rely also on my phone or my trusty old digital camera to picture my artwork (yes, I have no scanner). As an experiment, I decided to edit this fruit popsicle, to see if I can be able to correct the tones and sharpen it. So far, I’m quite happy with the result. I’m thinking of updating the other images as well on this blog so they will all have a white background. Thoughts?

I am in love with your blog, your paintings are too beautiful! I just followed you, it would be great if we can support each other! If only you were living in Montreal, I would have loved to meet you and see all of these! I can’t wait to see more of your work <3

Wow, thanks again! I read your blog too and found some really helpful tips on blogging (awesome beauty posts too btw). Right now, I’m scolding myself for not posting regularly when you could do it despite having a regular work. How do you even balance your time?
I would have loved meeting you too! Guess we just have to settle with visiting each other’s blog :)

Thank you, you are so sweet! Haha it takes quite a lot of discipline, I have an agenda filled with things to do for the blog and about my life outside of WP to make sure I don’t forget anything! Yes definitely :)
